Ancient Monasteries (14 Days / 13 Nights)

Tour three different parts of Jammu and Kashmir whose landscapes are completely different from one each. These will take you to some of the most ancient monasteries of the region that were virtually untouched by the winds of modernization and change till very recently. In between, take in some of the most picturesque and ethereal views of snow capped Himalayan mountains that you may have ever seen.

Day 1: Delhi - Srinagar
Wednesday, July 31, 2024 - Thursday, August 1, 2024

Arrival Delhi International Airport take a flight to Srinagar. Upon your arrival at the Srinagar airport, our representative will meet and escort you to your Houseboat (Shikara). In the afternoon, you will take a Shikara ride on The Dal Lake, and visit interesting places around the Lake. You will stay overnight on the Houseboat.

Day 2: Srinagar
Thursday, August 1, 2024 - Friday, August 2, 2024

In the morning, you will begin a half day tour of the world famous Nishat and Shamilar Bagh. In the afternoon, you will visit the Old city's Jamia Masjid, Shah Hamdan mosque, and the Srinagar Museum. You will also enjoy a walk through the narrow bazaar of the city. You will stay overnight on a Houseboat.

Day 3: Srinagar - Kargil
Friday, August 2, 2024 - Saturday, August 3, 2024

You will reach Kargil, after a full day drive to Kargil. After Sonmarg, you will start a steep ascend to the Zojila pass. At the village of Drass (the second coldest place in the world), you will stop for tea and a passport check. Another two and half hours drive will take you to Kargil. You stay overnight at the Hotel.

Day 4: Kargil - Rangdom Gompa
Saturday, August 3, 2024 - Sunday, August 4, 2024

After going to Kargil , you will drive towards Zanskar valley. On the way, you will be able to see the Panikar and Parkachan villages, and the view of Nun & Kun peaks. You will arrive at Rangdom in the evening. You will spend the night in tents.

Day 5: Rangdom - Padam
Sunday, August 4, 2024 - Monday, August 5, 2024

After a short drive, you will stop at the Rangdom Gompa. From, here you will continue your drive to Padam, which is the Capital of Zanskar valley. On the way, you will cross the Pensila pass 4401 Mtrs and some ancient Buddhist villages. After crossing the Tungri Bridge, you will visit the Sunni Gompa. You will reach Padam in the late afternoonand spend the night in Tents.

Day 6: Padam
Monday, August 5, 2024 - Tuesday, August 6, 2024

Today, you will visit Pipitong, Thonde Gompa and Zangla. At Zangla, you will visit the ancient Zangla Gompa and might even get a chance to visit the Queen's house. On the way back to Padam, you will visit the Karsha Gompa. You will stay overnight in Tents.

Day 7: Padam - Bardan Gompa
Tuesday, August 6, 2024 - Wednesday, August 7, 2024

Today,you will have a full day trek to the Bardan Gompa. On the way back, you will visit the Padam market and the Padam Gompa. You will stay in Tents for the night.

Day 8: Padam - Kargil
Wednesday, August 7, 2024 - Thursday, August 8, 2024

After a full day drive to Kargil, you will spend the night in your hotel in Kargil.

Day 9: Kargil - Uletokpo
Thursday, August 8, 2024 - Friday, August 9, 2024

During your full day drive to Uletokpo , you will have to cross the FOYTULA pass, the highest pass on the Srinagar-leh route.You will also stop at the Mulbek and Lamayuru. You can also visit the Rizong monastery by foot. You will stay overnight in Tents.

Day 10: Uletokpo - Leh
Friday, August 9, 2024 - Saturday, August 10, 2024

After short drive, you will reach the Alchi Monastery and continue to drive to Leh via some interesting Buddhist villages. The afternoon is free for personal activities. You will spend the night in a hotel.

Day 11: Leh
Saturday, August 10, 2024 - Sunday, August 11, 2024

You will take a full day excursion to Shey, Thiksey and Hemis Monasteries. You will return to the hotel by return late afternoon. You will stay overnight at the Hotel.

Day 12: Leh
Sunday, August 11, 2024 - Monday, August 12, 2024

After a half day sightseeing tour of Spituk and Phyang monastery, you will visit King's palace by foot. You will also see the Tsemo Gompa, Leh Mosque, Leh Bazar and the Shankar Gompa. You will stay overnight at the Hotel.

Day 13: Leh
Monday, August 12, 2024 - Tuesday, August 13, 2024

After a half-day excursion to Stok Palace/Museum, you will visit the Tibetan Refugee Camp. The afternoon will be for leisure. You will stay overnight at the Hotel.

Day 14: Leh - Delhi
Tuesday, August 13, 2024 - Wednesday, August 14, 2024

You will be transferred to the Leh airport where you board flight to Delhi to connect your onward flight .
